Let your love for God lead your passions By Sosthenes 10-16-2008
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues of life.
We’re supposed to guard our hearts because “for out of it (are) the issues of life.”
Proverbs 6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
We’re not supposed to lust with our heart or let our passion lead.
Proverbs 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
If we view everything through the view of scripture, we wouldn’t let contaminants like the world or anything get in our eye as we’re supposed to take every thought captive or “…bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;…” (2 Cor 10:5) because we’re supposed to “…love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” (Deuteronomy 6:5) and Jesus includes the “mind” (“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”, Mt. 22:37) which includes feeling or desiring because our passion for God has to be with “all thy might” and that means that you have to develop a love that is stronger than your passions… That is something that you have to develop from God by growing in grace and in knowledge of the truth (2 Peter 3:18) and by binding God’s words upon your fingers and upon your heart:
Proverbs 7:3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
Proverbs 7:4 Say unto wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
You are supposed to conduct your life in front of these truths as if you were as noble in front of your sister, for it is the grace of God that brings salvation unto all men teaching us to deny ungodliness and wordly lusts and teaches us how to live right:
Titus 2:11 ¶ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
1 Timothy 1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
1 Peter 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, [even so] minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Colossians 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
Colossians 1:6 Which is come unto you, as [it is] in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as [it doth] also in you, since the day ye heard [of it], and knew the grace of God in truth:
